BROOKLINE SNOWMOBILE CLUB BY-LAWS
Amended December, 2006
ARTICLE I
Name of the organization shall be known as the BROOKLINE SNOWMOBILE CLUB. The club is organized to provide charitable contributions to local organizations, and to provide a social opportunity for its members.
ARTICLE II
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Club are:
1. To create good relations between the landowners whose property our trails
pass and the club and its members. All landowners are welcome to attend
any and all meetings to discuss grievances.
2. To provide trails in cooperation with the landowners.
3. To provide policies to regulate and maintain snowmobiling on the trails through
landowner properties.
4. To bring about awareness of problems encountered that are detrimental to the
club and/or the landowners.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall consist of individuals who are 16 years of age and older who agree to uphold the objectives stated above, and who pay the appropriate dues. Children under the age of sixteen of club members will be non-voting member of the club.
ARTICLE IV
DUES
Annual dues are set at the annual meeting by those members attending.
ARTICLE V
OFFICERS:
1. The officers of the club shall consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Trail Masters and a Member at Large.
2. Qualification for office: must be a current member, active in the club, and in
good standing.
ARTICLE VI
DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS:
1. PRESIDENT: Shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the club. Shall preside at
all meetings. Shall issue the call for all monthly meetings as well as special
meetings. Shall preside at all activities of the club.
2. VICE PRESIDENT: Shall occupy the position of the PRESIDENT if for any
reason the President is unable to perform his/her duties.
3. SECRETARY: Shall submit monthly membership and keep records of such
minutes of each meeting, handle all correspondence, to maintain all records
such as the CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS,
and to send all notices that have been acted upon.
4. TREASURER: Shall keep records on all income and expenditures, maintain all
funds in safekeeping, to keep all accounts paid that he/she is authorized to
pay.
5. MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN:- Collects all monies for Club and VAST dues and
turns over to the Treasurer for deposit and record keeping.
6. TRAIL MASTERS: Duties are as outlined in the RULES AND
REGULATIONS.
ARTICLE VII
ELECTIONS
1. The election of officers will be held at the ANNUAL MEETING.
2. Nominations will be asked for by the President for each office by voice and
must be seconded. The vote will be by voice or show of hands. A simple
majority of members voting is needed.
ARTICLE VIII
MEETINGS
1. This club will meet regularly on the first Saturday of the month starting in
September and ending with the April meeting
2. All special meetings will be called by the President with notices of such in
appropriate manner as time permits.
ARTICLE IX
Identification by Club Brassard, Emblem, or Decal, but shall be exercised as stated in the RULES AND REGULATIONS acted upon by the club.
ARTICLE X
AMENDMENTS
Change of the By-Laws can only be done by the following procedure:
1. It is to be brought up at any meeting (scheduled) and discussed only.
2. Action on change to the By-Laws will be voted on at the next scheduled
meeting, providing that there is a quorum. A simple majority of
members voting is needed to approve a change.
3. A quorum consists of 10 voting member of the club.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Riders will ride at their own risk on all property.
2 All trails made by the club and traveled will have permission obtained from the
landowners. Details to be worked out with the owner for fence, gate removal
or cutting of brush and building of bridges, etc.
3. Members will agree not to litter, damage small trees, remove fences or open
gates.
4. Members agree that each one is responsible for reporting any property
damage to the landowner.
5. Members will agree to abide by the governing State Snowmobile Laws and
Regulations.
6. Members are to have their snowmobile equipped with proper mufflers (factory
issue), proper lights, brakes and currently registered.
7. Excessive use of intoxicating beverages during club activities is prohibited.
8. There will be at least 3 Trail Masters chosen to supervise and coordinate
the maintenance of the trail system.
9. Rules and regulations may be revised at the discretion of club members
at any meeting, providing there is a quorum. A simple majority vote is needed
to approve any change.
10. All members are encouraged to observe (and intervene, if possible) all acts
that may mar the club’s purpose to be in good standing with the landowner
and the community.
