2/13/11 Just a quick trails update:

TO SUM IT UP: What a Weekend for Local Riding in Windham County

Trails were in great shape all the way to the RT 35 Three Corners in Townshend (Junction with the VAST 8' groomed Corridor} and beyond all the way to Chester. Our Local Club Groomers have been busy keeping the local trails and our local corridor trail in top shape.

Brookline Club Members seen on the trail:

John Eye's Family (On Rt 35 nr Joy Brook Basin )
The Ryder Group (Base of Ober Hill Rd nr RT 35}
Peter Tine Group (Townshend 3 Corners Rt 35}
The Gokey's (Rt 35 nr Taft Rd Townshend)
The Fontaine's (Rt 35 nr Taft Rd Townshend)

One area that could still use a little attention:

Rt 35 across from John Eyes (Grassy Brook Rd, Brookline) needs a little more clearing and a good grooming to the junction with the Putney Mountain Trail.

The Rt 35 Connector to the Powerline beyond English's (To the left, heading South) has been broken out and groomed, this avoids the crossing in front of Warren's Camp. The Connector near English's to the Ellen Weare Rd (Food & Gas) has been broken out and groomed.

Get out and enjoy while you can

Just a quick update regarding the trail from the Airport out around Peaked Mountain, Across Peaked Mountain Road and Down to RT 35 and Across(Just North of the Hospital) to Ober Hill Rd and Up into the the Joy Brook Basin. Conditions have greatly improved in just a few days. The area around Peaked has been rerouted around the bad spots (a lot of work by the West River Snogoers) groomed multiple times on Sunday alone. Groomers were able to make it up the Steep section between 35 and Peaked Mtn Road and it is setting up nicely. Anyone with some riding experience should be able to navigate. Just take care not to spin it down, if you run into a problem back down and take another run at it. There are are two trails on goes up the steepest part, another one to the right (heading up) is an alternate, they join at the top. Beyond that the trails are groomed all the way to intersection of the 8' groomed Corridor.

Despite the Cold, conditions are the best in years.

Will be checking out the Brookline Trails on Monday.

Rode Thursday and Friday on Trail 35 to power line; very thin coverage. Chester did groom up to past my feeder trail (West Townshend). Overall trials are clear of debris, but after the last 2 days there is nothing left! NEED SNOW. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

Hi Mike, The following is a "report" we got recently on trail conditions. Looks like Brookline itself has light fluffy snow. No, we don't have a snow phone but as you'll see below, there is one for the Woodford area. Here's the report:

"The trails are definately OPEN (Corridor 7) from the Kelly's Stand parking area in Stratton both North and South. Proably counted 8-10 sleds in the short time we were there. Good cover in general from what we could see. The SnoBusters SnoPhone (802-447-7669) reported 23 inches in Woodford, groomers out, and an overall 'Good' for conditions.

If we decide to go we would likely put in from the Rt 30 end beyond Stratton Mtn Resort and head South for a bit to the Stratton Arlington Road."

Thanks again, Mike, for participating. We'd like to hear your report after you ride!
